I’m seriously enjoying being back talking about beauty more. Beauty, of course, is the main reason why I started blogging. But as time passed I found myself writing about other topics that interested me. Today I’m featuring my Estee Lauder Double Wear Review. I’m a huge Estee Lauder fan as it is but until a year ago I shied away from the foundation side of things. I was shade matched years ago but to the wrong colour so that kind of put me off. With the original being full coverage and with more lines forming I was worried they would settle and make my skin look worse. By chance, I passed a counter last year and asked for a sample. I explained my fears and I was given an Estee Lauder Double Wear light sample. So off I pottered with my sample and the love began. Now a year later I switch between the Double Wear light and the original depending on what I’m doing. I love both equally for different reasons. In the light, I’m shade 2.0 and in the original, I’m 2C2 pale almond.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light
I find the light to give a good medium coverage depending on how much product I use. If I want a more sheer look I apply less. I can at times suffer from an oily t-zone but haven’t found the foundation to slide. It pretty much stays in place all day. For me, this is what really sells it. I need a product that doesn’t need to be touched up. Can cover my pores but that also makes my skin look flawless for a considerable amount of time. I always apply powder around my t-zone to set my foundation and limit any movement. I must say my skin looks radiant/healthy when I use the light and it doesn’t feel cakey at all compared to other long-lasting formulas. Coming in at 30ml tube and priced at £33.50 its a great investment for those who want a buildable long lasting finish.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Original
Here comes the nations best selling foundation. The original version. As I mentioned above I have avoided using this formulation due to worry about it settling in my lines. Yes, what a stupid move on my part. When I attended an event at counter recently I asked for a sample just to see how I got on. 4 days into my 10-day sample I was hooked. It gives me all that I want from a foundation. A beautifully flawless base to work from. No movement during the day and a perfect result even at night when applied that morning. I apply using a brush or damp beauty blender, both methods give me the same result. With any leftover product, I apply to my eye area. I have found I get a better result doing this than using a concealer which does crease even using my Laura Mercier powder. Estee Lauder classes it as medium coverage but for me, it’s definitely full. It’s not heavy on the skin at all like the light formulation. It also comes in 50 shades so there is a shade to suit all. It also contains SPF 10 but as usual its always best to apply a good SPF under your foundation for maximum coverage.
If I was to choose my favourite from the 2 now I would have to go with the original, yes I shock myself at that especially with my first impressions years ago. For me, it’s an affordable high-end foundation which offers me all that I need from a foundation. Consistency wise the light is thicker but very blendable, the original is more fluid. If you want to try any of the foundation range just pop to your local counter where the girls will happily give you a free 10-day sample 🙂
